Your Performance Sounds Familiar
Reinterpretations of the history of performance
In Your Performance Sounds Familiar, artists take over La Juan Gallery to reinterpret actions that have marked the history of performance art. The series seeks, on the one hand, to showcase the work of major figures and, on the other, to bring these experiences closer to the public through contemporary approaches.
Each selected artist appropriates a historical piece, imprints their own character upon it, and transforms it, generating hybrids that maintain the original essence while updating it from a fresh perspective. Through these reinterpretations, works by artists such as Marina Abramović, Tino Sehgal, John Cage, Orlan, Tracey Emin, Gilbert & George, Los Torreznos, Yoko Ono, Allan Kaprow, Laurie Anderson, Esther Ferrer, and Joseph Beuys, among others, are activated, turning the gallery into a living archive of performance art.
